Central San Diego
For those of you who need to do OTHER things Saturday, THIS RIDE IS FOR YOU. We meet at the end of Claremont Mesa Blvd and immediately hit the trial. We quickly go onto a fire road and then drop down to some fast single track to Calle De Vida. From there we climb a hill with views of the ocean, downtown and Point Loma (on a clear day you can see the island off the coast). Back down the hill on some technical single track to the West Rim Trail. We take this for a mile or so and drop down to the ‘four corners’. From there we continue to 52 through a beautiful valley and climb out on the edge of North Fortuna Mountain.
IT IS NOW TIME FOR THE TECHNICAL PART OF THE RIDE! Lots of rocks, ruts, steep drops and sharp turns with fast climbs are on this part of the ride! We take this back to the four corners and continue on ‘E-Ticket’ a more tame yet awesome single track section. E-Ticket ends and we continue to Sycott Wash, another beautiful single track in a broad Valley. The devotional will take place under a canopy of California Oak Trees. The last part is the climb out up the ‘S’s’ and to Claremont Mesa Drive.
We should be done around 10:30 to 11:00 (I ride this section in 45 minutes) at the latest, making this a ideal ‘get out there quick’ ride.
I hope many of you can make this. Truly there is no better reason not to go on this ride. It is quick, has awesome single track, local, and you still have the whole day to do things with friends and family. If you have been planning on going on a ride, make this one!
NOTE – Helmets are MANDATORY on all RockMTB rides – NO EXCEPTIONS.
This includes EVERYONE! The person who left their helmet on the table at home… Please don’t put us in the unfortunate position of not letting you ride. We care deeply about everyone’s health and have seen too many examples of why helmets are needed.
What to bring:
1. Helmet – no helmet, NO RIDE, no exceptions.
2. WATER – at lease 100 oz!!! It may get VERY HOT and there is no water during the ride.
3. Summer clothes, it may get warm if this awesome weather continues.
Cannot be easier – take 15 to Claremont Mesa Drive East. Go to the end and park, look for the RockMTB Banner.
